About Dr Tlou

Professional Experience

Dr Tlou qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1992 and has been in private practice since 2006. Previous to that he held positions of clinical psychologist and Manager: Employee Wellness in the public service; student counsellor at the University of the North; human resources Consultant at Arivia.com, a business unit of Transnet; and clinical psychologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath and Tara H. Moross Centre hospitals.

He is past chairperson (2004 – 2006) of the South African Society for Clinical Psychology, a division of the Psychological Society of Southern Africa (PsySSA), Member of Executive of PsySSA (since 2007) and is the past President (2010-2011) of PsySSA. He is also an International Affiliate member of the American Psychological Association (since 2005). He has special practice and research interests in couples therapy, stress management, trauma counselling, health psychology, organizational wellness and HIV/AIDS management in the workplace, specifically health promotion and behaviour change.
